Two cases featuring homespun local sheriff Bill Eldon. In the first - "The Clue of the Runaway Blonde" - Eldon is confronted with a young girl murdered in a ploughed field, with no footprints in sight. In the second - "The Clue of the Hungry Horse" - another girl is found in a stable with a horseshoe wound to the head. Both are fairly clued and both have moments of tension and humour. Eldon's rural tracking and nature skills form an interesting contrast to Perry Mason's forensic knowledge.
